A Day of Hope in Honor of Cesar Chavez

Join Clinica Sierra Vista as we honor the life and legacy of civil rights activist and farmworker rights leader Cesar Chavez through a COVID-19 vaccination event in Kern County farmworker communities.

On Friday April 2nd, the public is encouraged to visit Clinica Sierra Vista locations in Delano and Lamont to receive a free COVID-19 vaccination. No appointments are required, walk-ins are encouraged.

Free COVID-19 vaccinations available:

Clinica Sierra Vista- Lamont

8787 Hall Rd, Lamont, CA 93241

8am-6pm

Clinica Sierra Vista- Delano

425 Del Sol Pkwy, Delano, CA 93215

8am-8pm

"We are excited to continue our outreach in these communities and support our farmworkers. Offering protection from COVID-19 through a life-saving vaccination is just one way we can show our farmworker and essential workers that we are here for them," said Dr. Olga Meave, Chief Medical Officer at Clinica Sierra Vista. "These farmworkers are feeding the nation, and have suffered through during this pandemic, we want to protect the health of as many people as we can especially as we head into the busiest time for agricultural workers," said Dr. Meave.

A recent UFW Foundation survey of 10,149 agricultural workers found that 73% expressed willingness to get vaccinated and 22% were neutral about vaccination. According to the United Farm Workers Foundation, more than 5,000 agricultural workers have been vaccinated over the last few days but there are roughly 800,000 in the state.

"We are in a race against time to vaccinate as many farmworkers as we can before the summer months," said Tim Calahan, Director of Communications at Clinica Sierra Vista. "One of the biggest challenges and barriers for farmworkers is simply finding the time to receive a vaccination, we want to make it as easy as possible and available right away, before the height of the harvest season is upon us," said Calahan.

No documentation is required to receive a COVID-19 vaccination at Clinica Sierra Vista. No appointments are required for this event.
