What Is Urogynecology?

A urogynecologist cares for women with pelvic floor disorders (PFDs) combined with gynecology and reconstructive surgery or medical treatment.

The most common pelvic floor disorders are:

  • Pelvic organ prolapse (weakening of the muscles and tissues supporting the organs in the pelvis)
  • Urinary incontinence (leaking of urine)
  • Fecal incontinence (leaking of stool)
